4-Year Plans Counselors meet with each student individually in either the 9th or 10th grade to discuss the student's interests and post-secondary goals. Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting, although it is parent/student preference whether or not a parent attends. Typically, by the end of the 10th grade counselors have met with each student on their caseload and completed a 4-year plan. The purpose of the 4-year plan meeting is to develop a sequence of courses that meets the student's after high school goals. During the meeting, the counselor and student choose high school courses that will further explore student interests as well as meet high school graduation and college entrance requirements. Honors and Advanced Placement courses, SRJC courses, and elective choices are discussed. If the student is interested in attending a 4-year college directly after high school, the counselor will provide information to begin this process. Counselors are a tremendous resource for college and career planning. The link below illustrates suggested 4-year plans.
